Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is a common painkiller used to treat aches and pain. It can also be used to reduce a high temperature. Although the exact mechanism of action is not known, Paracetamol is used to treat many conditions such as headache, muscle aches, arthritis, backache, toothaches, colds, and fevers. It relieves pain in mild arthritis but has no effect on the underlying inflammation and swelling of the joint.
Paracetamol very rarely causes side effects if you take it at the right dosage. If you’re worried about a side effect or notice anything unusual, talk to your pharmacist or doctor. Paracetamol is the first choice of painkiller if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s been taken by many pregnant and breastfeeding women with no harmful effects on the mother or baby.
